Wrong detection on ASrock x870 nova

Hi can no get a correct detection of fan and sensors on the asrock nova x870.
The nuvotron chip is detected as following by sensors-detect

Driver `nct6775':

• ISA bus, address 0xa20
  Chip `Nuvoton NCT6798D Super IO Sensors' (confidence: 9)

Driver `lm78':

• ISA bus, address 0x290
  Chip `National Semiconductor LM78' (confidence: 6)

There seems to be a missdetection as the chip are Nuvoton NCT6796D-S and NCT5585D.

Hi @voyerx,

The LHM implementation here is not a 1:1 copy.
As far as I can tell, your ASRock Nova X870 motherboard uses the NCT6796D-S chip, which is not supported by this driver.
Or have I misunderstood something? 🤔

This driver (nct6687d) only supports:

• NCT6687D
• NCT6687DR (found on MSI B840/B850/X870/Z890 boards)

What I know:
Your chip is supported by the nct6775 driver in mainline Linux:

sudo modprobe nct6775
sudo sensors-detect --auto
sensors

I'm new at cachyOS.
So I might have posted this on the wrong driver/topic.
As you stated the chip is wrongly detected & should be as Nuvoton NCT6796D-S and NCT5585D.
I don't know in which forum /topic I should post this then maybe lm-sensors then.

Hi, I took a quick look at your board, but I can't tell you exactly which kernel module you need in your case. Could you post the output from sudo sensors-detect pllease note !!it will ask a bunch of questions, just hit enter and it will pick the safe answer. when you get to the end if it asks you if you want to save it, say no. Let's see what what it says?
