Add "Request account" option or similar next to Log in

Hi,

as an example, when you try to login here by clicking on the person icon on the top right, you also have the option "Request account", in case that no account exists. Then, some information is asked to assist with identification.

Could we have something like that for the portal too, when someone tries to login?
And then this request comes directly to you?

Hopefully more people would like to create an account and to contribute.

• MaRDI Helpdesk is also somehow hidden and not really the relevant contact for an account managing issue.

Hi, there is already the option for institutional login, which should theoretically work for everyone with an academic account somewhere. Or was that person not from an academic institution?

As far as I know, neither Login with DFN-AAI, nor Login with Edu-ID for Forschungsverbund Berlin e.V. (where WIAS belongs to) works for WIAS employees.

Can someone create an account by clicking on ""Create an account!" as shown below?

I do not know because that is not handled by zib, but you can try it out! I think the first step would be to talk to your IT to find out why Edu-ID login does not work for WIAS members, that would have positive effects even beyond MaRDI :) For example for DFN-AAI, we had to have our users added to a specific user group.

That is for sure a good idea and efforts are being done, as far as I know :)
