Test with other solvers

Hi, I do not know if you consider to use other solvers different from snopt. In that case I would like to send you the answers I receive when I change snopt by baron in curve.ampl:

Does the example run with SNOPT?

Sorry, I realized that I tried to execute the example in GNU Linux without doing a correct make; the Makefile call asl, that it seems to be Mac-specific. I am unsuccessfully trying to create the funcadd.h by myself. The 0-level test is to comment #include asl/funcadd.h but it does not work:
funcadd.c:26:36: error: unknown type name ‘arglist’
static int initialize_interpreter(arglist *al);

Is there a way to get such funcadd.h?

The ASL is required on all platforms. I only tested pyampl on OSX. To compile on Linux, you just need to set CC and ARCH. The Makefile assumes that the ASL is installed via Homebrew/Linuxbrew. It also assumes that a shared library libasl.so exists, so if you compile the ASL by hand, either adjust the ASL Makefile to build libasl.so instead of amplsolver.a, or change the pyampl Makefile. Using ampl/mp might work; I haven't tried.

Hi. Homebrew also runs on Linux now, so you should be able to brew install asl. I have to admit that I haven't used this code in many years. Let me know how it goes. It would be great to confirm that it still works.

This doesnt seem to be working. I already have python3 so assume that I dont need to do brew install python --universal but when i try the other commands i get errors

brew tap homebrew/science
Error: homebrew/science was deprecated. This tap is now empty and all its contents were either deleted or migrated.

brew install asl

These similarly named formulae were found:

To install one of them, run (for example):
brew install gsasl

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Sorry. Homebrew-science no longer exists. You just need to install homebrew and type brew install ampl-mp. The formula no longer uses the alias asl.

However, I never tested this with Python 3.
