Auto sync is not happening when we try to delete a resource like function, role etc

We noticed that with the newer argo version, the auto sync is not happening when we try to delete some resource. We have to manually sync it in the UI. We notice that even if we patch the application, the patch doesnt stay and is automatically resetting to automated enabled: false by default. I am adding automated enabled:true in my applicationset.
