Feeling stuck trying to understand the tutorial

Hi, can someone tell me what 'ph' really stands for? I know that it is instantiated as a detector and used for succeeding tasks in the tutorial.

I believe it is @tacaswell’s abbreviation for “pin hole” detector, a detector with a scalar reading, as opposed to a linear array or an image.
