Upgrade to laminas-cache 4

Are there any plans upgrading to laminas-cache version 4?

Version 3 of laminas-cache becomes a bigger issue especially because it still relies on the old psr/cache and psr/simple-cache version 1 (instead of v2/v3), thus causing conflicts with other dependencies.

It is, unfortunately, not possible to upgrade to laminas-cache v4 currently. v4 requires laminas-servicemanager v4, which is still incompatible to many other packages.

Would it help you if we'd drop laminas-cache, replacing it with symfony/cache?

Related issues are #833 for cache and #834 for servicemanager.

@driehle Thanks for your reply. Using symfony/cache instead would help with our issue indeed, because it supports psr/cache and psr/simple-cache versions 2/3 already since a while. So that could be a great workaround!

@driehle Do you know when the upgrade to laminas-cache (and laminas-servicemanager) v4 is planned? Anytime soon? Or alternatively, if replacing laminas-cache (as you mentioned above) is in the pipeline?

Just asking again because the problematic dependency to psr/cache (and psr/simple-cache) v1 is really an issue - it's quite outdated (v2 and v3 have been released in 2021), therefore causing conflicts with dependencies that use a newer psr cache.

has anyone an idea when this all will be tackled? are we the only ones considering upgrading to php 8.5, but being blocked by the doctrine module? 😂
