[Bug] Incompatibility with Controllable

Observed behaviour

The "Open Spell Wheel" key bind does not work at all when using a controller through the Controllable mod. Not sure if this can be fixed on your end, and I understand if it's not a priority, but it would be greatly appreciated as the rest of the mod seems to be totally compatible!

Expected behaviour

The configured keybind should open the spell wheel. Ideally the right thumbstick would select the spell.

Steps to reproduce

• Install the "Controllable" mod alongside "Iron's Spells and Spellbooks"
• Plug in controller
• Set "Open Spell Wheel" to desired keybind
• Use keybind to open Spell Wheel
• Doesn't work :(

Just tried this myself and it is impossible :/

Edit: Just adding a additional key bind to go immediately to the spell wheel (instead of having to use modifier) would fix it as gamepad users then can add it to the controllable wheel and open it from there.

Having the same issue! NO controller bind is working. Even if I bind it to the radial menu.
This is a bug that has been around for a while... I tested one of the versions from June 2024... Still same issue.
Last time I can confirm it WORKED was 1.20.1 - 3.1.0.
Controllable binds work on that version fine... Too bad we miss out on tons of features tho if playing that far back.

This doesn't work.
There is a bind to go straight to the spell wheel. When added to the radial menu, it still doesn't work...

Last time it worked was on version 3.1.0 back in MARCH 2024.

I just loaded the newest versions of both mods in Neoforge 1.21.1 and it still doesn't seem to be working. I've tried the toggle, hold and scroll modifier on various controller key bindings but am having no luck unfortunately.

Hey folks, tried on my side a bunch of settings too and yeah I can't really setup any spell selection.

Using Controllable in order to play with my Asus Rog Ally Z1e.
Event tried to bind to a simple key, doesn't work.

Well, the mod has an alternative for the wheel, which is to keep a key selected in the settings, so that when you scroll with the mouse wheel, you alternate between the spells you have equipped. What I did was use the DSX software to create a bind so that when I held down L2 on my controller and an arrow to the left or right, it would bind the mouse to scroll up and down. It worked perfectly for me.

Fixing the issue requires merging #989 + compatibility module for a controller mod. I propose Controlify as it supports essential public APIs and documentation (there is still room for improvement, e.g., isXander/Controlify#706, isXander/Controlify#737).

Addon details

• Override default ExtendedKeyMapping.consume() behavior to use vanilla consumeClick() if input mode is controller.
• Provide metadata and default controller input bindings.
• Spell wheel support.
• Bonus: More features, such as adaptive triggers, change selected spell via scrolling.

Thanks for your response and for your hard work looking into many input aspects of this mod (e.g., #989). I wouldn't mind moving from controllable to controllify as long as it was functional.
Edit: Just looked at Controllify and noticed that there isn't an available version for Forge/NeoForge 1.20.1. I believe most users of Iron's are Forge/Neoforge users on version 1.20.1. A more universal solution perhaps not only dependent on Controllify might be preferable.
Edit: I see there is a port for Controlify on Forge 1.20.1 made by you (Ellet)!
