Staking is active on Manta Network starting with v4.6.1

:::caution Manta Atlantic deprecation (parachain wind-down)

Manta Atlantic’s Polkadot parachain slot is expected to expire around **late July to early August 2026** (exact timing depends on block production). Manta is consolidating on **Manta Pacific** (Ethereum L2). If you hold or stake MANTA on Atlantic, **unstake and migrate as early as possible**—do not rely on operating staking as if the chain were long-lived.

The following aligns with the **Manta Atlantic Deprecation FAQ** (announcement March 11, 2026; FAQ last updated March 10, 2026). Always confirm the latest dates in community channels.

**Roadmap milestones (general)**

| Date | Event |
| --- | --- |
| March 11, 2026 | Deprecation announcement published |
| March 18, 2026 | Staking rewards stopped; new staking no longer accepted (FAQ summary table) |
| March 20, 2026 | Cross-chain bridge inbound transfers closed (outbound only) |
| March 25, 2026 | Migration DApp goes live (URL announced with launch) |
| June 2026 | Chain enters read-only mode; migration-related transfers and withdrawing unbonded funds remain available |
| July 2026 | Slot expires; chain stops producing blocks |

**Staking-specific schedule (FAQ “I’m currently staking” section)**

- **Through March 17, 2026:** You can still earn staking rewards and initiate unstaking at any time.
- **March 17, 2026:** New staking is no longer accepted; existing stakers can still earn rewards and unstake.
- **May 1, 2026:** Staking rewards stop; forced unstaking begins.
- **After May 1, 2026:** All remaining staked positions will be forcibly unbonded.

**Unbonding:** The standard Atlantic **~7 day** unbonding period still applies after you unbond—start early to avoid queues near deadlines.

**Migration:** A dedicated **Migration DApp** detects assets and staking on Atlantic and can guide **unstake** before you choose a destination (e.g. **Manta Pacific** via Manta Bridge, or **Polkadot / other parachains** via XCM). Staked MANTA counts toward assets you should migrate. If you miss deadlines, the project plans a **1:1 MANTA airdrop** on Pacific from a chain snapshot; **non-MANTA assets (DOT, GLMR, USDt, etc.) are not covered** by that airdrop and must be migrated by you.

**Collators:** Unstake and exit in line with FAQ guidance—after **May 1, 2026**, inflation is set to **0** and collators **no longer receive block production rewards**; the goal is for all collators to exit safely before the slot expires. Follow collator community updates (e.g. Telegram) for reminders and guides.

Manta Network runs a delegated proof-of-stake (DPoS) consensus mechanism.

Similar to other Layer 1 blockchains, block producers are selected out of a set of candidates based on the total MANTA stake backing each specific block producer candidate - in our case called a `collator`. In addition, users who don't wish to run their own `collator` can instead `delegate` their MANTA token to an existing collator and gain a share of its rewards.

:::note Atlantic deprecation

Reward emissions and inflation are subject to the **Atlantic deprecation schedule** (see [Staking overview](01-Overview) and the **Manta Atlantic Deprecation FAQ**). After the published cutoffs, rewards may stop and inflation may be set to **0** for collators.

Staking rewards work the following way:

1. On every produced block, ~7.6 MANTA are created (equivalent to 2% of total issuance per year)

:::caution Atlantic deprecation

Manta Atlantic is winding down with a fixed parachain slot end (~**late July–early August 2026**). **New staking** may be disabled and **rewards / inflation** may be reduced or stopped on dates published in the **Manta Atlantic Deprecation FAQ** (e.g. summary milestone **March 18, 2026**; phased staking wind-down including **May 1, 2026** for reward cessation and forced unstaking). On-chain behavior during wind-down follows network parameters and announcements—treat the rules below as the **nominal** design, not a guarantee of availability through slot expiry.

You can find the dApp at [app.manta.network/manta/stake](https://app.manta.network/manta/stake)

During **Atlantic deprecation**, also use the **Migration DApp** when it is live (URL announced with the **March 25, 2026** milestone in the Manta Atlantic Deprecation FAQ) to review all Atlantic assets and staking, **unstake** if needed, and route funds to **Manta Pacific** or other supported destinations. From **June 2026** the chain may be in **read-only** mode for most activity while migration-related transfers remain available until the slot expires.

Before we begin, please make sure you are familiar with the [Staking Rules for Delegators](../Rules#for-delegators)

:::caution Atlantic may not accept new staking

Manta Atlantic is **winding down** (parachain slot ~**late July–early August 2026**). **New staking** may already be or may soon become **disabled**, and **rewards** may end on dates in the **Manta Atlantic Deprecation FAQ** (summary **March 18, 2026**; phased details through **May 1, 2026**). If you are learning delegation for the first time on Atlantic, read the [Staking overview](../01-Overview) and use the **Migration DApp** when available instead of opening new positions.

:::

When visiting the Staking page for the first time, you will see a pop up appear. Allow polkadot.js access to the dApp

### Q: Is there a slashing risk for Manta validators?
There is no slashing risk for delegators. Collators that do not produce blocks will not earn rewards for themselves **and their delegators**.

### Q: Manta Atlantic is winding down—what should I do if I’m staking MANTA?

Unstake (unbond) and migrate as soon as possible. The **Manta Atlantic Deprecation FAQ** publishes both a high-level milestone (**March 18, 2026** — staking rewards stopped; new staking no longer accepted, in the summary table) and a **staking-specific phased schedule**: through **March 17** you can still earn rewards and unstake; from **March 17** new staking is not accepted while existing stakers can still earn and unstake; from **May 1** staking rewards stop and forced unstaking begins; after **May 1** remaining stake is forcibly unbonded. If the summary table and the staking section ever differ, follow the **latest FAQ and Discord `#atlantic-migration`** announcements.

### Q: How do I migrate staked or unstaked MANTA off Atlantic?

Use the dedicated **Migration DApp** (URL announced at launch) with a Polkadot wallet (Polkadot.js, Talisman, SubWallet). The DApp can detect staking and offer an **unstake** path, then you choose a destination (e.g. **Manta Pacific** via bridge, or **Polkadot / other parachains** via XCM). After **March 20, 2026**, assets can only move **out** of Atlantic, not in.

### Q: Does the standard unstaking wait still apply during deprecation?

Yes. Manta Atlantic’s **~7 day** unbonding period applies as normal after you initiate unbond—plan ahead so unbonded funds are available before read-only mode and slot expiry (**June / July 2026** per FAQ).

### Q: I run a collator on Atlantic—what should I do?

Complete unstaking / exit as soon as possible. After **May 1, 2026**, inflation is **0** and collators **no longer receive block production rewards**. Aim to exit before the parachain slot expires (~**late July–early August 2026**). Watch collator community channels for step-by-step guides.

### Q: Will I lose MANTA if I miss migration deadlines?

Per the deprecation FAQ, a chain-state snapshot and **1:1 MANTA airdrop on Manta Pacific** are planned for unmigrated MANTA, and archive access is described there—**non-MANTA assets are not airdropped** and must be migrated by you. Staking docs do not replace the FAQ; read it for full asset lists and timelines.
