Maximum Power Point Tracking for Photovoltaic Using Incremental Conductance Algorithm

  • Worked on enhancing the PV systems’ energy extraction efficiency by developing a novel Incremental Conductance Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) model using a boost converter.
  • Employed temperature and Global Horizontal Irradiance (GHI) datasets spanning the years 2004 to 2013, which were procured from The National Solar Radiation Database (NSRDB), in the analysis of the PV Array module.
  • GHI is the acronym for Global Horizontal Irradiance which represents the total amount of shortwave radiation received from above by a surface that is horizontal (parallel) to the ground. GHI is the most important parameter for the calculation of PV electricity yield. Both DHI & DNI are actually components of GHI and mathematically,

$Global Horizontal Irradiance (GHI) = Direct Normal Irradiance (DNI)* cos(solar zenith angle) + Diffused Horizontal Irradiance (DHI)$
